Crypto, but
explained properly
You don't need to understand any of this to use it. You don't need to care about blockchains, you don't need an opinion on Bitcoin, and nobody here is going to tell you to buy the dip.
You need to move $29 from your bank to us without a bank sitting in the middle deciding whether you're allowed to. That's it. That's the whole thing. It takes about five minutes the first time and about thirty seconds every time after.
Why we do it this way
Not because it's trendy. Because every other option has a bank in it, and banks have opinions about sex work.
Nobody can cut you off
Sex work is legal here. Banks and card companies close accounts over it anyway - not because you broke a law, but because a policy in another country says adult services are "high risk". It happens without warning and there's usually no appeal. When a directory takes cards, that directory is one policy review away from vanishing, and taking your listing with it. Crypto goes from your wallet to ours. There's no third party in the middle to change its mind.
Nothing on your statement
If you pay us with a card, "PRIVATE ENCOUNTERS" or some cryptic descriptor sits on your statement forever, where a partner, a flatmate, an accountant, or a bank employee having a nosey day can read it. Pay us in crypto and your bank sees a transfer to a crypto exchange. That's all. What you did after that is between you and your wallet.
No chargebacks, so no chargeback games
On card-based sites, someone advertises for a month, gets their business, then tells their bank they never authorised it. The site eats the loss plus a fee, and covers it by charging everyone else more - and by getting twitchy about who it lets advertise at all. A crypto payment can't be clawed back, so that whole game doesn't exist here. Cuts both ways, and we say so below.
Cheaper fees, cheaper ads
A card processor that will touch adult services charges somewhere between 5% and 15%, if you can find one that says yes at all. Sending crypto costs cents. That saving isn't sitting in our pocket - it's the reason a listing here starts at $29 instead of what the incumbents charge. Look at their pricing page, then look at ours.
Your first payment
Four steps. About five minutes.
Do this once and you never do it again - after the first time, paying us is: open app, scan code, tap send.
If you don't already hold crypto, use XRP
We take two coins, XRP and Solana, and both cost you almost nothing to send. An XRP payment costs a fraction of a cent in network fees and settles in about four seconds; Solana is much the same. We used to take Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT and stopped, because their network fees come out of your pocket rather than ours and on a $10 bump that is a real bite. Get Xaman for XRP, or Phantom if you would rather use Solana. On XRP our checkout opens Xaman with the address, the amount and the destination tag already filled in.
One XRP rule worth knowing: the destination tag is not optional. It is how we tell your payment apart from everyone else's. Our checkout fills it in for you.
Get a wallet
A wallet is an app on your phone that holds your coins. It's free, it takes two minutes, and it doesn't ask for your name, your ID, or anything else. Think of it as a purse that lives on your phone.
Xaman
for XRPFree app, iPhone and Android, and the one to get if you pay in XRP - which is what we would suggest. Our checkout opens it with the address, the amount and the destination tag already filled in. It used to be called XUMM, so that is the name you will see in older guides.
Phantom
for SOLFree app, iPhone and Android, and the usual choice for Solana. Get this one instead if SOL is what you already hold. No destination tag to worry about on Solana.
Trust Wallet
either coinFree app, iPhone and Android. Handles both coins we take. A good all-rounder if you would rather have one app than two.
Exodus
either coinFree, works on your phone or your laptop, handles both. Nicer to look at, same job.
The one thing that matters: when it sets up, the app shows you twelve random words. That's your recovery phrase. Write it on paper and put the paper somewhere safe - not a screenshot, not your Notes app, not a text to yourself. Those words are your money. Lose them and lose your phone, and the coins are gone with nobody to ring. Anyone who has them can take your coins. Nobody legitimate will ever ask you for them, including us. If someone asks, they're robbing you.
Buy a bit of crypto
You buy it with normal money from an exchange, the same way you'd buy foreign currency before a trip. NZ exchanges want a photo ID once, when you first sign up - that's the law here, not us being nosey, and it's a one-off. Your bank sees the exchange's name (like "Swyftx"), not us.
New Zealand’s biggest exchange (it took over Easy Crypto in 2026). NZ bank transfer in, buy the coin, withdraw it straight to our address. The simplest option for most people.
We're not paid to name those two and we don't get a cut - they're just the ones New Zealanders actually use. Buy a few dollars more than you need, so a wobble in the price or a network fee doesn't leave you a cent short.
Which coin?
We take two, and either is a fine answer. XRP is the one we'd pick: it settles in about four seconds, the fee is a fraction of a cent, and Xaman opens straight from our checkout with everything filled in. Solana is just as quick and just as cheap if it's what you already hold. The only difference that matters to you is that XRP needs a destination tag and Solana doesn't.
Send it to us
Pick your plan on our site and we show you a payment page: a QR code, an address (a long string of letters and numbers), and the exact amount. Open your wallet, tap Send, scan the QR code - it fills in the address and the amount for you - and confirm.
Scan the code rather than typing the address. Typing a crypto address by hand is how people lose money.
Buying on Swyftx (or any exchange)? Withdraw the coin straight to our address instead of to a wallet of your own - it goes from them to us, never touching a wallet you have to manage.
The price can't move under you. We lock the NZD exchange rate onto your invoice the moment it's created and never look at it again. If XRP drops 10% while you're finding your glasses, that's our problem. Send the amount on the invoice and you're paid up.
Wait a few minutes. Done.
The payment page updates itself - you don't need to email us, send a screenshot, or do anything at all. XRP and Solana both land in seconds. Once it's confirmed, your listing goes to a human for review and you're live, usually within a few hours.
You can close the tab. It'll still work.
Right - let's do itThe bits we'd rather not mention
Every page like this on every other site stops at the good news. Here's the rest of it, so nothing surprises you later.
Sending to a wrong address is permanent
This is the big one. There's no bank to ring, no reversal, no fraud team. If you type an address wrong and the coins land somewhere else, they're gone - really gone. This is why we say scan the QR code. Scan it, and this risk is essentially zero.
The price moves
Crypto can be worth 5% less by dinner. Doesn't affect what you pay us - that rate is locked onto your invoice - but it does mean crypto is a lousy place to park savings. Buy what you need for the ad, send it, move on. Don't leave a float sitting in a wallet waiting for next month's listing; buy it again next month instead.
It isn't instant
A card is instant. Crypto takes anywhere from a few seconds to about ten minutes to confirm, depending on the coin, and your first-ever purchase from an exchange can take a day while they verify your ID. Plan your first listing for the day before you need it, not the hour.
And one thing that isn't a downside, but people worry about it
Crypto isn't anonymous, and anyone who tells you it is, is selling something. Every transaction is on a public ledger forever. What it is, is unconnected to your name unless someone joins the dots - and what it does for you here is keep our name off your bank statement and keep a bank's opinion out of your business. That's the promise. We're not going to dress it up as anything bigger.
Paying for advertising is also perfectly legal, and so is your work. You aren't hiding from anyone. You're just not handing a stranger at a bank a reason to close your account.
Stuck at any point?
Email support@privateencounters.co.nz and a person will walk you through it. Not a bot, not a help centre article. We'd rather spend ten minutes on the phone than have you give up on step two.
